I’d love to write about textile implements, but whenever I have an idea I find some hands-on expert’s already written about it really well. Still, I’ll keep my eye out for ideas and good pictures.

I have a wooden box given to me by my great aunt,it has a metal liner which you can take out. It also has a small shovel on the back. She said it was an Old English Ash Box used to carry hot coals from one room to another to start fires. I can’t seem to find any info on it. She passed at the age of 94 and she said it was her grandfathers.

My Mom had an old “Blouse Iron” (I have a picture if you want to email me back) to give shoulders a puffy shape. Can you tell me anything about it?

Brushes with synthetic bristles are good for paints that are water-based because they tend
to retain their form and integrity even when wet. Use light paint
colours for surfaces you want to make seem larger.
The trim around doors, windows and baseboards along
with the kitchen and bathroom tend to be painted with either a semi-gloss or gloss finish paint
because these areas require more regular washing.
